PSD Pride

The citizens of Peninsula Schools are extremely proud of our teachers, students, administrators and staff. We honor their successes and are amazed by their dedication to a tradition of excellence.

  • Vaughn celebrated their 6th consecutive year as State Champions for the Presidential Fitness Award.
  • The Special Education Options Program at PES received the 2010-2011 Notable Student Success Award.
  • 10 different students have represented KPMS across the country at NASA sponsored events.
  • On the ACT explore test, our 8th and 9th grade students outperformed the national average in all areas (reading, English, math and science).
  • PHS Girl’s Swimming were Academic State Champions.
  • In 2011, 92% of PSD sophomores met the state standard in writing. 
  • Peninsula Outlook earns Best high school newspaper in the Nation 3 out of the last 4 years.
  • GHHS boys are the 4A Cross-Country State Champions, the first time a 4A team from Western Washington has won since 1986. They ended the season ranked 9th in the Nation. 
  • Evergreen has won Title I awards each year from 2008-2011 and the Pierce County Violence Prevention Award in 2009. 
  • Voyager and Kopachuck Destination Imagination teams won 1st place in Global Finals in 2009.
  • PSD has 81 teachers who have achieved National Board Teacher status.
  • Peninsula is one of the few districts in the state that has all the 10th grade students take the PSAT test. 
  • The Speech and Debate team from GHHS won the NW Whitman Invitation Tournament in Walla Walla for the 4th time in 5 years. 
  • Voyager Highly Capable program was a regional winner in the Disney Planet Challenge in 2011. 
  • Rachel Lewis from PHS won the 3A Golf Championship .
  • GHHS Meistersingers won national awards including on the stage in New York City .
  • PSD had an increase of 17% in students passing their AP tests therefore receiving college credit. 
  • From Purdy, Markeyna Beene was the 2010-2011 Geography Bee School Champion and top 100 State/National finalist. 
  • In 2011 Franklin and Johnathon Feng (grades 1 and 4) from Artondale received 1st place awards in choral reading for bi-lingual students in the Chinese Language contest. 
  • PSD is the leader of academic achievement in Pierce County.
